Alex Chinneck

 Alex Chinneck's sliding house or "From the knees of my nose to the belly of my toes" is a site specific instillation in the seaside town of Margate in Kent, UK.  The piece tricks the viewer into believing the facade of the house has slid down in a very cartoon way exposing the top floor.  If you are in the UK area go check it out!

 Swedish artist, Johnathan Josefsson's rugs are beautiful sculptural paintings.  

Joan Mitchell

 Joan Michell is probably the most wellknown female abstract expressionist.  Though born in Chicago, Illinois much of her carrear took place in France.  She painted on unprimed canvases with violent brush strokes inspired mostly by landscapes. She has said she wanted her paintings "to convey the feeling of the dying sunflower" and "some of them come out like young girls, very coy ... they're very human." I admire the freedom she has with the paint and all the raw emotion you feel in her movements.

Xochi Solis is a painter living and working in Austin, Texas. I love her color combinations and texture play.

Herbert Baglione

 I had seen Herbert Baglione a while back but today as I was going through other street artists I realized Baglione looked familiar. And after some research I realized I am in love with his billowing  patterned textile floral heads and wispy spirits that dance around chairs and and floating nudes.

Hell'o Monsters

 Hell'o Monsters are a Brussels-based trio that have been working together for the past 12 years.  They surprisingly draw seperately and then compose together.  “Our styles are similar, but our interests are not. We each have different ideas and we let them clash with one another. Our work is thus somewhat like an exquisite corpse, which ultimately presents one final result. The work is by one person, but executed by three people. We’re like a band with a drummer, a guitarist, and a singer who write one song all together. Hell’o Monsters is a complete and natural fusion of technique, but also of a mind frame about art and creation in general.”

Escif

Humerous and Political Spainish Street artist, Escif, has been a favorite of mine for a while.  His simplistic and thoughtful style is incredile vehicle to talk about important issues.

PBS Latin American Series

There is a new PBS series titled Latin American, it's six hours in three installments.  It's claimed to be "TV’s most ambitious attempt ever to document the Latino experience in North America."
