David Hockney
David Hockney is an English painter who studied at the Royal Academy of Art in London. He is known for his portraiture in painting and photography. Hockney was openly gay and would often times paint his lovers or make reference to his love for men. He also was very close to his mother who shows up in his work quite often. I love his bright colors and how his work revolves around his personal relationships.

Henry Rosseau
The story of Henry Rosseau is as magical as his paintings. He was born in France in 1844 and never left. His wild imagination was enough to bring his painting places with a little help from looking at taxidermy animals and visits to botanical gardens. What is even more interesting is that all of this came bursting out of him at the ripe age of 40, while he was still had a day job working for the government. He was finally was able to dedicate all of his time to painting once he retired at 49 years old. such beautiful work.

Who is Dayani Crystal?
I can't wait till Who is Dayani Crystal? comes out. Gael Garcia Bernal, mi amor, is such an amazing actor and doing his part to put stories out there that need to be told, and heard by a brouder audience. He is quite the activist in his own right, as mentioned in the interviews above this movie was inspired by his time creating 4 short films for Amnesty International about the migration of undocumented up to the the United States. The link to those is here- but be warned that some of the stories are graphic and just unbelievably sad. Gael also produced one of my favorite movies Sin Nombre, also discussing the complexities of immigration.

Knife - Grizzly Bear
A couple years old but it reminds me of fantastic planet/early 70s sci-fi movies.

Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti (Feat. DĆ¢m-Funk) - Baby
you're so baby.
I have this song on repeat. love it.
The Rescue Hug
The 'Rescuing Hug' . . . This is an amazing story of twin baby girls. One baby was not expected to live. A hospital nurse fought to put them in the same incubator. The stronger baby wrapped her arm around her sister, and her touch allowed the struggling baby's heart to stabilize and her temperature to return to normal.
This is the sweetest thing I've seen in a while.

I Define Myself: Undocumented and Unafraid
I Define Myself: Undocumented and Unafraid is a public exhibit in colaboration with JR's InsideOut that was shown outside Chicago’s Jane Addams Hull-House Museum. Those that are photographed are all young undocumented immigrants who live in Chicago and have decided to take an extremely brave stand and "come out" publicly about their immigration status as part of the Coming Out of the Shadows campaign.
